Wedding Cake on Yavin IV

One of the more entertaining exercises in which a fan of Star Wars can engage is to quietly comment to a bunch of Very Manly Men with Gatekeeping Tendencies where Star Wars is concerned that Chewbacca didn't get a medal at the end of the original Star Wars because those weren't medals, they were the Star Wars equivalent of wedding rings, and the Throne Room theme is actually a wedding processional.  Chewie's the obvious correct choice for best man, and why wouldn't Leia officiate?  She's very official.

(The sputtering, blustering, "that is NOT what's going on" insisting that results is absolutely hysterical -- because what's it matter?  It's a fictional story about space wizards and laser swords.  Calm down everybody.)

Side-note:  that Throne Room Theme is a wonderful processional.  Have your own processional picked out if you're having me officiate your nuptials, because if you don't, that's what you're coming down the aisle to.  This is not an idle threat.

Now I'm not here to tell you that this cake is the cake they'd've served at the reception for Han and Luke's wedding, but I'm also not here to tell you that it's not the cake they'd've served at the reception for Han and Luke's wedding.  As I said before, it's a fictional story.  Maybe there wasn't any cake at all.  Maybe there was.

We will never know.

Wedding Cake on Yavin IV

Ingredients
1 cake mix of your choosing (white cake is the obvious choice here)
4 large eggs
6 Tbsp butter, melted
1 cup milk (I used soy milk because that's what I had in the 'fridge)
A little vegetable oil for your pan

Instructions (these are SO embarrassingly simple)
  1. Mix everything together and bake it according to the directions on the box.

No really, that's it.  For me, that's a 350*F oven and ... kriff I don't even remember how many minutes it is for two round cakes, but it was the lower end of the recommended.  Use cake strips to make your cakes come out flat and even on top, which makes life SO MUCH EASIER for multi-layer cakes, and if you're feeling feisty, frost the whole thing with this insanely good frosting.  Then cut yourself a slice and sit down to enjoy the final scene of the original Star Wars, safe in the knowledge that somewhere, a fanboy is ticked off about the whole thing. :3
