Yogurt's Pumpkin Pie Yoda

Image
It ain't green but it's Yogurt and really, Yogurt > Yoda every day of the week, fight me. ... and may the schwartz be with you! Yogurt's Pumpkin Pie Yoda Ingredients 6 oz plain, unsweetened yogurt ---> 18 oz tripled 1/4 cup plain pumpkin puree ---> 3/4 cup tripled 1/4 tsp cinnamon ---> 3/4 tsp tripled 1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice* 3/4 tsp ---> tripled 1 Tbsp maple syrup ---> 3 Tbsp tripled Instructions Combine all of the above. Whisk to combine. Yeah, that's really it.   A few items of interest: This recipe makes two servings. I use a yogurt maker and make my own yogurt.  It's freakin' awesome.  Much nicer for the environment, too, since we're buying far fewer plastic yogurt containers, while still eating a tonne of yogurt. I can triple this recipe and get it all to fit into an old yogurt container, which means I don't have to measure every time, and at the end of a work day bookended by a bike commute?  That...

Quezza Pizzadilla

I have a wicked weakness for pizza, which is stupid because pizza is Not Good for Me and expensive. Its only redeeming quality these days is that it's a 7,000-step walk from my house to the pizza shop and back, and that's kind of negated by the fact that I get home and eat the entire pizza in one go , then fall asleep in a food coma. My relationship with pizza is complex and troubled, let me tell you. Today, we got home from our walk (same 7k-step walk, mind you, only we bought doughnuts instead of pizza, my body weeps) and I got all feisty watching my partner wash the pan he uses to make me quesadillas. What if, I thought, I (and by "I" I mean "he") made a quesadilla with mozzarella cheese and some Italian spices, then dipped it in pizza sauce? Would I get something vaguely pizza-ish? The answer is a resounding YES. It's not got the consistency of pizza, but it has the flavor, which is what I find I crave. And it's small, which means I can gor...

Boba Fett Died Like a B*tch Brussels Sprouts

"You a fan of the 'Fett?" "Nah, I was always more into Star Wars. " ( Live Free or Die Hard ) I always assumed Boba Fett was like ... cool or something. I mean, there's that line in Die Hard , there was the whole thing about his dad in those godawful prequels, people dress as him for Halloween. And then I got around to watching the orig-trig and he didn't really do  anything. Except die. Like a bitch . These badass brussels sprouts aren't at all in his honor. Boba Fett Died Like a B*tch Brussels Sprouts Ingredients 1 lb frozen brussels sprouts 1 tbsp olive oil 1/4 tsp sea salt (use less if you're using regular table salt) 1/4 tsp ground black pepper Instructions - Preheat your oven to 420*F (I use my toaster oven at 400* - it needs 420* for a regular-size oven) - In a small mixing bowl, microwave your brussels sprouts for 3-4 minutes, or until they're kinda thawed. - Drain off any excess water - Slice them in h...

Rosemary Sweet Potato Wedges

I love rosemary fries (thanks to Clover Foodlabs in Cambridge ) almost as much as I love sweet potato fries, and with a little help of this recipe , I've got a way to combine the two right here in the comfort of my own home, where pants are optional and bras hang on the wall instead of squeezing the life out of me. Ahh, such is luxury. These are quick, they're tasty, and they're wicked good for you. Highly recommended. Rosemary Sweet Potato Wedges Ingredients 1 good-size sweet potato, peeled 2 tsp olive oil 1 1/2 tsp Old Bay seasoning (Mrs. Dash would probably work great as well - lemon herb, perhaps?) 1/2 tsp dried rosemary Instructions - Preheat oven (I use my toaster oven) to 450*F. - Cut the sweet potato into 1" slices, then cut those slices into 1/2-3/4" pieces. - Put the sweet potato pieces into a small mixing bowl with the olive oil, Old Bay, and rosemary. - Toss carefully with a spatula until everything's all evenly coated on the c...

Now That's Just Sorcery Green Smoothie

I'm rather a fan of smoothies, but they're always kind of ... harsh, somehow. Almost like they're chemically burning my throat, I suppose. And they're so cold . Which I know is rather the point, but I don't like cold things, especially not cold things that say "This is a chemical burn" in Tyler Durden's voice while they're turning my throat into an episode of Game of Thrones that spends too much time focused on Jon and Sam. This smoothie is almost 100% identical to the recipe from Oh She Glows (my colleague loaned me the Oh She Glows cookbook in exchange for pie, in case anyone's curious why I'm suddenly so obsessed with her recipes) but it has my twists to it, mostly brought on by the fact that I purchased a ridiculous number of Just Barley powdered green barley uh ... three years ago, and until today hadn't found a way to drink it that didn't involve way, WAY too much sugar. Like I'd only drink it if it were made with t...
